Five people appeared in the dock over their part in the Ely riots on the sixth day of a sentencing hearing at court. Thirty people are being sentenced over the course of two weeks. Here's everything you need to know about day six of the hearing: During the latest day of the sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Jordan Bratcher, James Chappell, Matthew Evans, Cameron Cartner and Zayne Farrugia appeared in the dock as the court was told about their involvement in the riots. Cameron Carter, 20, of Ely, was said to have played a "central and leading role" in the riot, having thrown items such as a baby chair, TV monitor and metal drain cover at police. Matthew Evans, 22, of Ely, was also said to have played a leading role, throwing stones and large missiles, including a burning bed frame, at officers. He set fire to a red car by using an aerosol can as a flamethrower. Jordan Bratcher, 27, of Llanishen, was one of several seen entering a garden, collecting stones and gravel that were thrown at police. James Chappell, 31, of Barry, attended the scene of the riot after driving his partner and three daughters to his father's home in Ely. He was heard saying "I hope cops get hurt" before throwing missiles at the police" Zayne Farrugia, 26, of Caerau, was one of the first to enter a garden in Stanway Road to get stones to throw at police. He put stones in his pocket to throw at police and as officers surged up Stanway Road, he turned and threw stones as he retreated up the road.
