On an early morning on June 10 in downtown Astoria, members of the Lower Columbia Q Center installed banners in honor of Pride month. "The Q Center," according to the website, is: "a nonprofit resource center providing outreach, education and charity for the 2SLGBTQI+ community and allies of the Lower Columbia Region of Oregon and Washington since 2015." The nonprofit's brick-and-mortar office is at 171 W. Bond St. A few of the services the community organization provides include: gender-affirming care, peer support, educational resources, book clubs, story time and advocacy. Later in June, the Q Center will host "LCQC Pride: 10 years Fierce." A Queer talent competition is slated for 7 p.m. on June 20 at the Liberty Theatre. Then, a host of workshops will be held June 21 to 28. On June 27, a riverfront Pride march is at noon, a block party at Fort George goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., including booths, activities, performers and music culminating with an all-ages skate night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Astoria Armory.
